Unless within the next week or so someone discovers an envelope for our Special Annual Appeal and returns it, it is safe to say that this year’s APPEAL has concluded. As of Thursday, July 8, our gross in gifts from 339 contributions was $64,282.00 for which we are enormously grateful. We know the care and sacrifice behind those gifts.
This marks the 4th SPECIAL ANNUAL APPEAL since our resumption of this form of fund raising after the school property was no longer leased and each year its importance to our being able to survive as a parish grows. To the 21.36% whose care prompted their response “THANK YOU”.
SAINT THOMAS MORE PARISH was established in APRIL of 1938. In the intervening years it has served the Catholic community of this part of Braintree and the larger community as well. That service, however, calls for the support of the community. This annual appeal offers all the known households in the parish an opportunity to manifest their support.
REPORT #21 (through 7/8/10)

Help keep your heart's door open for GOD.
Please help to keep the St. Thomas More Church open to you --

February, 2010
Dear Saint Thomas More Parishioner(s):
It is the time in this fiscal year for us to come to you to solicit your special offering to the financial support of our parish. If we didn’t truly need the support we would not be coming to you. We recognize that these are difficult times for all of us.

Clearly it is not the time to increase the offering we ask for, so it remains at $100.00 per adult. That amounts to an offering of a little less than $2.00 a week for a year to help the church remain available in this part of Braintree.
You can see from the results for the three most recent Special Annual Appeals (on the reverse side) that the level of response is low, averaging 19.78% of those from whom an offering is being requested.

Your parish relies on your financial support for its economic survival. Parishioners are our only source of support to meet all of our financial needs. The statement of revenues and expenses for fiscal year 7/2008-6/2009 on the reverse side quite clearly shows that as a parish we do not operate extravagantly, and yet we would not have enough income to meet our basic needs without making this special annual appeal.
We earnestly seek your generous response and thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely yours,

Father McCarthy
