This past Thursday Anne Vail and Ginny Aitken from our Religious Education Office attended the Braintree Rotarian meeting with the purpose of presenting the results of our Lenten “CHANGE FOR HAITI PROGRAM” to support the Rotary efforts to provide shelter boxes for people without homes because of the devastating earthquake. Each box shelters 10 people and provides essentials for cooking and eating and food for 6 months. The cost of each box is $1,000.00. Through the creative fund raising of the students and their teachers and the added support of our parishioners a total of $3,315.95 was presented to the Rotary Club of Braintree toward their effort to provide 30 shelters from the people of Braintree. To everyone whose concern for the people of Haiti inspired them to support this effort by our students great gratitude is extended.
Combined with our early on parish offering to Catholic Relief Services for the people of Haiti amounting to $10,263.00 the result is a truly generous offering of $13,578.95.
Considering Jesus command to “love one another”, He would surely see this effort with pleasure.
