• If you know of someone such as a single parent, fixed income person, out-of-work family, etc. who could use some help, please suggest that they call the rectory during office hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to make an appointment to come to our weekly food pantry. Also, if you know of home-bound people who could use help with food, please call and let us know. God bless you for helping us to help our brothers and sisters in Christ.
  
  ST. VINCENT dePAUL SOCIETY
  FOOD PANTRY NEEDS AS OF AUGUST 17, 2008
  During the summer months, donations are needed more than ever. This week the most critical food items needed are vegetables, soups, fruits and others such as tuna, pasta, sauces/gravies/mayonnaise, meals (hamburger helper, canned beef stew, etc.). Also needed are cereal, fun foods (cookies, cake mixes, jello, jelly/fluff, peanut butter and jelly) and miscellaneous (coffee, tea, juices, condiments, etc.).
  IF EVERYONE BROUGHT JUST ONE ITEM A WEEK, WE WOULD HAVE PLENTY. Thank you for all that you give.

• Keep in mind that we will always receive with gratitude and appreciation:
  • Nonperisable foods for food pantry
  • Good used Clothing in the St.Vincent dePaul bins behind Church
  • Donations in envelopes in Church
  • Due to the difficulty in processing and getting centers to take glass, we can no longer accept glass. However, we greatly appreciate your donations of cans & plastic. Please do not bring GLASS BOTTLES to the bottle and can drop-off center. Cans and plastic bottles are still needed!

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The ministry members meet every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month in the church hall from 3:00-4:30PM. All are welcome!
Our Prayer Shawl Ministry members will be taking a well deserved summer vacation from their semi monthly gatherings. They will continue to knit over the summer and have just completed the 97th Prayer Shawl! All are welcome to be a part of this wonderful ministry. Several of our homebound parishioners are also participating. If you would like to join us, please call Janelle Snarsky at the Rectory or e-mail Janelle@beld.net. Many thanks to all of our parishioners who have supported this ministry.

FAMILY LITURGY

JUST A REMINDER that we would encourage all of the young people who come to the Family Mass on to bring one (1) food item for our local FOOD PANTRY. The objective here is to help the young people to learn that a part of celebrating God’s love for us is to thank Him by sharing with others some of what we have as a blessing from Him.

PARISH CHOIR --- SUSPENDED TEMPORARILY
The St. Thomas More Parish Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the church. We welcome new voices – anyone from high school to senior citizen is encouraged to participate in this wonderful music ministry. If you can keep a tune, enjoy singing and have a sense of humor, you have all the necessary qualifications. Please join us – you could make all the difference!

TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE

Is there is any way in which you would be willing to contribute some of your time and talent to the faith community of Saint Thomas More?
There are a certain number of things that must be done as basic to any parish community. Masses celebrated, baptisms administered as well as other sacraments, and religious education offered.
To do this and many other things that need to be done, we have to rely on parishioners who understand that the community relies on their willingness to be of service to it through sharing their time and talent.
We ask you to let us know if you feel that you could be of assistance to us in any of the areas that we have listed on the form or if you have any other way, just jot it down on the form and get it back to us.
Be assured that whatever you can do will be helpful and appreciated.

Volunteers are always needed to help with the coffee hours after the 8:00AM and 10:30AM Masses on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
